Product: Logitech MK710 Keyboard/Mouse combo
Type of product: Bluetooth Keyboard and mouse
Our rating: 10/10
Let’s begin by going over what is in the box for the MK710 combo. There is a keyboard with batteries already installed in it. Just take the panel off for the batteries, pull the tab and turn on the keyboard. The mouse that comes with it is very comfy to easy use. It has a scroll wheel and a forward and back button on the left side for your thumb, so you don’t have to use the back or forward buttons on your browser. There are also batteries for your mouse included in the box, a nice plus. In addition, there’s a transceiver so your keyboard and mouse connect via USB to your computer/laptop/surface/MacBook. The box also includes a USB extender cable which you can plug into the USB receiver so you don’t have to crawl under your desk when you want to move it to a different machine.
What does this keyboard and mouse combo have that we like in it? The keyboard has an LCD display screen that shows how much battery life that you have left so you know when it’s time to change/charge the batteries in the keyboard. If you have ever had to troubleshoot computer problems, this makes the issue of battery change/charge lots easier to address. The keyboard also has palm rests attached to it. We do like this feature because we have had to purchase palm rests separately in the past. The keyboard also has play/pause and forward/back buttons for when you are playing music through iTunes or other media you might be using on your computer. The keyboard also has mute/volume up/volume down buttons for when you want to adjust your speaker volume attached to the computer. The LCD screen on the keyboard also shows if you have the number lock/caps engaged or on. Number lock looks like a #1 surrounded by a box and caps lock looks the same but with the letter a in a box. To save battery, the keyboard and the mouse both have on/off switches so you can turn them off when they aren’t in use, or if you are going to be away for an extended period of time. The on/off switch for the keyboard is right above the number pad and the on/off switch on the mouse is on the back of the mouse. When the keyboard or the mouse is switched on you should see Green indicating on, and red indicating that they are off.
The mouse has a storage spot under the battery cover for the USB transceiver. Should you choose to travel with your keyboard/mouse combo, you’ll have a safe storage place for the transceiver. One cautionary note when traveling this way, don’t lose the mouse. If you do, without the transceiver you won’t be able to use the keyboard or mouse anymore. We’ve found the mouse forward/back buttons which you can use with your thumb to be useful when visiting webpages. Often times when we need to go back and visit a previous page, it is much faster with the mouse than using the keyboard. A small time savings device.
What drew us to this Keyboard/mouse combo was the fact that we were looking for a replacement for our MK200 Logitech Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo. Not that the combo we had was necessarily bad, but we were looking for a keyboard/mouse combo that had a built-in palm rest like this one had. Retail price of the MK710 on Amazon is around $59.00 and could be picked up for cheaper if you shop around or wait for a sale on it. We looked around at other combos like ones from Microsoft, but we really wanted to get another Logitech keyboard/mouse combo. We would purchase this combo for our customers who desire a Bluetooth keyboard/mouse combo for their home or office.
In closing, we would like to point out that this keyboard/mouse combo is very sturdy and can be used on a daily basis. We hope that this one lasts for us just like the MK200 combo that we are replacing with this combo kit. Battery life seems to be pretty good but we can’t say for sure at this point in time as we have only owned this combo for a few weeks. However, the battery life still shows it’s full of charge on the keyboard, suggesting a charge should last at least one month.
Do we recommend this keyboard/mouse combo to those looking for a new keyboard/mouse combo? Yes we do! Would we recommend this keyboard/mouse combo for those looking to game? Sadly when we tried to game with it, we found it a little too slow, however we did not have a gaming rig set up to fairly test this. We tested it on a surface pro 5 which isn’t really built for playing games, so it may work better with other game types. Overall, we would highly recommend this keyboard/mouse combo for day to day work use as the look and the feel of the combo makes it easy to use and we would definitely purchase again should we ever need another keyboard/mouse combo for ourselves.
